Pictures 2004
The following photographs were taken in June, when Stuart and myself went up to the glen for a week.
The cottages at Bridgend
On the left is the Scottish Free Church at Bridgend, and on the right is a view of The East Lodge Hotel. Unfortunately both are now closed.
Some views of Glen Meanie which is an off shoot from Strathconon. The loggers had been at work and most of the pine forest had been removed.
The woods on the bank of Loch Achanochie, and the dam at it's head.
We had some pretty mixed weather that week, look at the following photographs.

The first two are of the River Conon that runs at the back of the cottage, early on in the week.
The next two show the same river towards the end of the week.
The next photo shows the stream that comes down from the hill opposite the cottage. Normally you can hear the water fall in the woods as a background noise. This was after twenty minutes of torrential rain and hail, which was so bad I had to stop the car because visibility was zero.
We tried twice to get over to Glen Orrin. The first time we went from Porin. However as soon as we set off the rain came down, we got over the top but were forced to return because the weather closed in so much.

Thats me on the left with Abbey, on the right is a view of Loch Meig through the rain.
On our second attempt we went over from Inverchoran, and came down at the western end of Glen Orrin by Loch na Caoidhe. The weather was wet and windy but by the time we got into the glen and started back over, the direct route to Inverchoran. The weather had become sunny and warm.

On the left is Loch na Caoidhe and below is Glen Orrin with the River Orrin in the foreground.

2004 August
We didn,t go abroad this year so in August the whole family went to Strathconon for two weeks. We spent quite a lot of our time in the glen, but went out on a few trips. The first sequence of photo,s were taken at Landmark, this a forest theme park. Our friend Lindsay came up to see us for a long weekend. She is studying to be a marine biologist, and at the moment is living in Oban.
